This gemstone is a natural approx.19x15x2mm Brazilian crystal opal. Brazilian opal is mined in the northeastern region of the state of Piaua.
There are no large opal fields there. Many Brazilian opals are found in a quarry at the base of a sandstone cliff and mined by hand.
Brazil produces beautiful crystal opals with unusual pastel fire colors. This opal is very durable as it has a low moisture content compared to other opals. This opal is completely untreated; no treatment of any kind has been done. The item is sold as seen in the picture.
